Mr. Rich Gossett is owner and Technical Director of Physis Environmental Laboratories in Anaheim, Calif., and Director of the Institute for Integrated Research in Materials, Environments, and Society (IIRMES) at California State University, Long Beach. Mr. Gossett has spent his career researching, developing and leading the modification of cutting-edge, performance-based methodologies, and then applying those methods to research and regulatory management communities in projects as far away as Antarctica, Lake Baikal, South Africa, Israel, American Samoa, Hawaii and Alaska — as well as the contiguous United States. He has played a field-wide, renowned role in the development of and advances in environmental analytical chemistry. He has provided laboratory services in support of both USEPA’s National Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Program, as well as for similar regional programs like the Southern California Bight Regional Monitoring Program, often serving as Chair of the Chemistry Technical Committee for the latter.
