Writer/Director, THE POD GENERATION

Sophie Barthes is a Franco-American award winning filmmaker, graduate of Columbia University, and alumna of the Sundance Screenwriters & Directors Lab. Sophie’s directorial debut, COLD SOULS with Paul Giamatti and Emily Watson premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and then traveled to more than 30 international film festivals and was theatrically distributed by Samuel Goldwyn and nominated for 3 Independent Spirit Awards. Her second feature MADAME BOVARY with Mia Wasikowska, Ezra Miller and Paul Giamatti, premiered at the Telluride Film Festival and internationally at the Toronto and London Film Festivals and went on to more than 20 international film festivals. She also directed a segment of HOPPER STORIES, produced by Didier Jacob and commissioned by ARTE for the first historical retrospective on Edward Hopper at The Grand Palais in Paris. Her third feature THE POD GENERATION with Emilia Clarke and Chiwetel Ejiofor premiered opening night at the Sundance Film Festival 2023. The film has already won the Alfred Sloan Prize and the Dolby Institue Fellowship grant. It will be distributed theatrically in the US by Roadside Attractions & Vertical Entertainment and by Universal internationally.
